Allergies

Allergies such as seasonal or environmental allergies (i.e. ragweed, moulds, cats, etc.) are very common and there is often a connection with Atopy. Atopy is a triad of symptoms, which runs in families, of allergies, asthma and eczema.  These symptoms do not need to all be together, and many people have one or a combination of these health issues, but any of these can be very exhausting, discomforting or debilitating.  So how can a Naturopathic Doctor help you with these hypersensitivity allergic symptoms?  What needs to happen is that the full load of stress on the body needs to be reduced. This will give the body a chance to use its own natural ability to control reactivity and inflammatory responses to allergens.

In terms of how to achieve that,  we use various approaches such as taking foods that the person has an intolerance to out of the diethomeopathic drainage, single homeopathic remedies, hydrotherapy, ionizing foot spas, Living Systems Medicine and Bowen or acupuncture sessions.  Reducing any emotional and psychological stress also gives the body some relief to be able to deal better with allergies, because it gives the adrenal glands a break and they can kick in more to help reduce symptoms.

We do also offer an organic herbal tea formulated specifically for the relief of seasonal allergy symptoms called Organic Seasonal Relief Tea.

Good example of a single homeopathic remedy treating allergies very successfully:

60 year old woman with long-term history of an allergic response to grass cuttings such as itchy eyes, runny watery eyes, runny nose and, more importantly, seriously impaired breathing to the point that hospitalization happened a few times. The homeopathic remedy Pulsatilla worked immediately for this patient and she only had to take a couple doses each summer of a low potency over the next few years. She then stopped needing the remedy and has been symptom free for at least 10 years now.
