Adrenal Fatigue

Stress, Overwhelm, Burnout

Adrenal Fatigue is characterized by having stressed your system so severely with work, emotional stress, psychological stress, physical stress, stress at home, eating devitalized foods such as sugar and white floured products that you become exhausted. You also then have a lower threshold for stress and cannot handle the things that you used to be able to!  It can be due to prolonged moderate or high levels of stress or due to one very traumatic event or serious illness such as pneumonia or a surgery.

Fatigue, lowered tolerance for dealing with stress, catching colds/flus more easily, sleep difficulties especially waking during the night, weight gain, feeling cold, lower sex drive, eczema, allergies and asthma are just some of the issues associated with the adrenal glands being overworked and fatigued!  Menopausal symptoms can be worse as well if the adrenal glands have been stressed for long periods of time or just from one traumatic event.

Modern living has forced the majority of us in North America to lead fast paced lives, living on prepackaged, frozen and restaurant foods, while at the same time not having enough time to relax, exercise and spend quality time with loved ones. Sounds like a cliché, but it has some footing in the realities of our lives these days. At the Kanata Naturopathic Clinic we have extensive experience in helping people with adrenal fatigue and can aide you in setting up a healthier lifestyle and simplifying the steps to becoming a more energetic and happy you!

Adrenal fatigue is very common in our modern society – we no longer sit on the porch and look at the sunset because we have TV, cell phones, texting, email and numerous other distractions to keep us busy! Adrenal fatigue is something that you may want to explore for your own interest and a good, but older

book on the subject is Adrenal Fatigue: The 21st Century Stress Syndrome by James Wilson.
